The ATS have extended the closing date for papers for the the David Sugden Award to 30 June 2017.

The David Sugden Award was established in 2004 to encourage young engineers to develop the art of technical writing. The competition is open to all ATS Members and University Students under the age of 35 (as at 31 August 2017). The paper is to be a technical paper on any subject relating to tunnelling and underground space construction, not less than 2,000 words and not more than 5,000. The winner will be selected by the ATS Executive Committee, with the award presented as part of the ATS2017 Conference proceedings.

The prize includes complimentary conference registration fees and $2,000 towards personal travel and accommodation costs at the ITA World Tunnelling Congress (WTC2018) to be held in Dubai, UAE from 20-26 April 2018.
