The next element of Brisbane’s City Council’s TransApex scheme, Legacy Way is currently Australia’s largest tunnelling project. The project comprises twin 12.4 m diameter, 4.3km long TBM tunnels between Toowong and Kelvin Grove. It is being constructed for Brisbane City Council by the Transcity JV, an international joint venture between Acciona, Ghella and BMD with the design being undertaken by a Design Alliance team including GHD, Cardno and URS.
Our presenter is Matthew Norbert from GHD. Since 2010 Matthew has been involved with the project, firstly as Tunnel Design Lead for the successful tender and more recently as Tunnel Design Manager for the project. Matthew’s presentation will include an overview of the design process including innovations and also provide an update on tunnelling progress.
