NATIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Simon Knight Chairman Chairman National Executive Committee Director Cutabolt Pty Ltd, Consultant DuPont Safety Resources Simon was elected chairman of the executive committee in 2007. His experience covers exploration drilling and ground support in both operator sales and marketing roles. Simon is the Managing Director of Cutabolt Pty Ltd supplying glass reinforced polymer (GRP) rock bolts and accessories. Longwall coal mines have been using GRP bolts for temporary support since the late 1980s, their application to tunnelling and underground structures is however more recent. GRP tendons, bolts and mesh are used for ground support where either the rock mass is to be subsequently removed e.g. “soft eye” or where long term corrosion resistance is required (100 years plus). Cutabolt are Australasian agents for Cooper and Turner, suppliers of embedded items for concrete lining segments. Simon is also employed by DuPont to deliver and provide guidance with their behavioural safety technology. This was useful when Simon sat on the committee to develop the new NSW WorkCover code of practice for Tunnels under Construction. His pro bono work extends to Rotary International where he is Assistant Governor for the Sydney group of clubs.
