Dear ATS members

In 2022 the Australian Tunnelling Society will celebrate its 50th anniversary. During this time the ATS has established its position as the key technical society within Engineers Australia for the tunnelling industry in Australia and globally as a representative on the International Tunnelling Association (ITA).

To celebrate this important milestone the ATS is proposing several key commemorative events and initiatives which may include the following:

  • A celebratory dinner either by state or nationally
  • Interviews with key industry professionals
  • A journal or book covering the Australian tunnelling industry over the past 50 years

To assist with the programming, planning, and coordination of the above the ATS is looking for interested volunteers that would be able to manage and support these key events and initiatives.

In the first instance the ATS seeks a volunteer Chair to work alongside the ATS Executive Committee to lead, coordinate and promote the 50th anniversary celebrations which will be held throughout 2022.

The volunteer role will include:

  • Promoting the ATS 50th Year Anniversary
  • Working with the ATS President and the Anniversary Committee to organise events
  • Engaging with Corporate Members to support activities

They will be supported by volunteers from the ATS Chapters and the ATS Executive Committee (making up the Anniversary Committee) throughout the country and the Executive Committee.

This is a fantastic opportunity for ATS members across the country to engage in a variety of projects, programs, and activities over the next year to celebrate 50 years of the ATS.

If you would like to express your interest in volunteering or taking on the lead role on the ATS50 organising committee for these celebrations, please submit your nomination to ats@engineersaustralia.org.au

We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

ATS Executive Committee
