LUNCHTIME LECTURE SERIES #20

This instalment of the Lunchtime lecture series will focus on ‘ H&S during design’.

The episode will feature one lecture and finish with a Q&A session with all speakers:

• TBM safety – Before the launch – Donald Lamont & Werner Burger

The lecture will cover the machinery safety aspects of TBMs along with the manufacturer’s perspective of the complex procedures involved in getting a TBM set up on site ready for launch.

The first part of the lecture by Donald Lamont, Animateur of ITA WG5 will look at machinery safety and standards – present and future – for tunnelling machinery manufacture.

The second part of the lecture by Werner Burger, vice-Animateur of ITA WG5 and member of ITAtech Steering Board, will look at what is involved in transporting a TBM from the factory to site, at the site assembly process along with the provision of spares and consumables.

Both lecturers are active in CEN/TC151/WG4 – “Tunnel boring machines”.
