The Australian Tunnelling Society (ATS) is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the ATS Young Members sub-Committee for the 2024/25 term (1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025). Please note: successful committee members will be elected for the 2024/2025 term, however they will be invited to commence the role as soon as elected, for the remainder of this year (2023).

The key objectives of the ATS Young Members sub-Committee (ATSym) are:

  • Knowledge Sharing – To create a platform for students and young engineers to share knowledge and experiences in the tunnelling field.
  • Community Building – To build a community of students and young tunnellers in Australia for information and knowledge exchange.
  • Promoting Innovation – To advance the tunnelling industry in Australia by encouraging innovative practices.
  • Tertiary Engagement – To collaborate with universities, and educational institutions to promote the opportunities and growth within the tunnelling sector.
  • Showcasing Achievements – To highlight and celebrate the achievements of young tunnellers in Australia.

The Terms of Reference are attached which detail the purpose of the Sub-Committee, its key objectives, as well as the responsibilities of all positions on the Sub-Committee.

If you are interested in joining the committee, please include the following in your EOI submission:

  • your EA ID
  • a pitch (max 1 page) stating why you would like to be on the committee, and availability and the skills you would bring.
  • a concise CV, no more than 2 pages.

Please submit your EOI via email to ats@engineersaustralia.org.au no later than 5pm AEST on Friday, 29 September 2023. Any EOIs received after this time and date will be ineligible and not considered.

Please note, you must be a financial member of ATS, and 35 years of age or under, to be eligible to nominate.

All eligible EOIs will be reviewed by an ATS Nominations Committee and successful candidates will be notified as soon as possible.
